Similar to the founding of The Black Parents Forum, the Teacher of Color Recruitment was founded in 2006 to serve a double purpose as a gateway organization to support recruitment and retainment of teachers of color at independent, charter and public schools. And introduce teaching as a fulfilling and valued option for new and seasoned educators.
An important need for all students is to experience excellent diverse educators reflected in their teaching population, thus our mission is to provide opportunities to support the hiring process of excellent diverse candidates.
